At PT Vale, sustainability is not viewed as a destination, but as a continuous journey of improvement, reflection, and renewal. As a leading nickel producer in Indonesia, we recognize our responsibility to contribute to the global energy transition while ensuring that economic growth is balanced with environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and strong governance.

PT Vale Approach in Sustainability
We adopt double materiality to review sustainability from two key perspectives; Impact Materiality and Financial Materiality. Through the process, we have identified 18 sustainability related topics that are critical to PT Vale’s operations.
These findings will serve as a foundation for formulating policies, establishing sustainability targets, and designing strategic programs that align with our long-term vision.

Sustainability Policy and other relevant policies
Integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance principles into our operations is not simply a choice, but a responsibility we embrace. Our sustainability policy serves as a guiding principle, guiding our journey toward a future where the company operates in harmony with the environment and society.
PTVI Approach in Sustainability

Emissions and Energy Management
PT Vale Indonesia aims to reduce carbon emissions by 33% by 2030, supported by renewable energy use and energy efficiency programs. Operations are guided by ISO 50001 and a decarbonization roadmap.
Biodiversity and Land Use
PT Vale Indonesia integrates biodiversity conservation into land use planning, including post-mining rehabilitation, flora-fauna monitoring, and protection of endangered species.
Water & Effluent Management
PT Vale Indonesia manages water responsibly by engaging in water forums, preserving water quality and quantity, and continuously improving water and effluent practices.
Waste Management (hazardous and non-hazardous)
PT Vale Indonesia is committed to achieving zero waste to landfill by 2025, ahead of national targets. The company implements integrated waste management across mining, production, support, and domestic activities.
Occupational Health and Safety
PT Vale Indonesia is committed to continuously improving occupational health and safety performance, with the ultimate goal of zero harm. A proactive safety culture is promoted through training, risk prevention, and ongoing improvement.
Industrial Relations and Labor Rights
PT Vale Indonesia upholds fair labor practices and fosters constructive industrial relations, ensuring compliance with labor laws and respect for workers’ rights.

Sustainability Governance
The Sustainability Function is responsible for PTVI’s sustainability strategy and approach, including managing our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance data and reporting.
Sustainability issues are addressed through formal governance mechanisms to ensure alignment between corporate strategy, risk management, regulatory compliance, and long-term value creation. The Board of Directors, along with its Sustainability Committee, actively monitors sustainability impacts, risks, and opportunities as part of the overall corporate governance framework. The Audit Committee of the Board of Commissioners also review sustainability issues on an annual basis.
Double Materiality
We engaged with employees and unions, local NGOs and communities, regulators, investors, business partners, and the media to consolidate our priority issues. We also assessed our current position on each topic compared to similar industry players locally and globally.

PT Vale strengthened its ESG performance in 2025, achieving a Sustainalytics ESG Risk Score of 23.7, a 19.4% improvement from the previous year, and an ACGS score of 99.53.
The Company continued advancing its climate and environmental commitments through increased renewable energy use and lower air emissions, while maintaining zero work-related fatalities and expanding investments in community development. These achievements reflect PT Vale’s continued focus on responsible growth, strong governance, and long-term value creation for stakeholders.
