Vale Indonesia Wins One Platinum and Two Gold Awards at ICA–ISDA 2026 for Community Empowerment Programs
JAKARTA, September 29, 2026 – PT Vale Indonesia Tbk ("Vale Indonesia" or the "Company"), part of PT Mineral Industri Indonesia (Persero) or MIND ID, has once again received recognition for its community empowerment programs that promote capacity building, economic self-reliance, and sustainable benefits. At the Indonesian CSR Awards (ICA) and Indonesian SDGs Awards (ISDA) 2026, Vale Indonesia earned one Platinum Award and two Gold Awards through three community empowerment programs implemented in East Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi.

The ICA 2026 Platinum Award was presented for the “Woliko” Integrated Native Chicken Farming Development Program. Meanwhile, at ISDA 2026, Vale Indonesia received two Gold Awards for its Vocational Short-term Training (VST) Program and the Nuha Cassava Village Program. These results were officially announced by CFCD based on the final assessment plenary of the ICA, ISDA, and BERBAKTI 2026 evaluations.

The awards were received by Vale Indonesia’s Head of External Relations Sorowako and Outer Area, Yusri Yunus, during the BERBAKTI, ICA & ISDA Award Ceremony 2026 held in Jakarta on Tuesday (September 29). Yusri said, “Vale Indonesia is deeply honored to receive these awards. These three awards reflect appreciation for the Company’s efforts to ensure that community empowerment programs go beyond activity implementation and are able to build capacity and create long-term, sustainable benefits.”

“For us, the success of a community empowerment program is not measured solely by the activities carried out, but by the extent to which communities can develop their capabilities, create new opportunities, and build self-reliance. These awards motivate us to continue strengthening collaboration and ensuring that every program remains relevant to community needs and local potential,” Yusri stated.

“Community participation and multi-stakeholder collaboration are essential to sustaining these programs. Communities must play a central role in the empowerment process, not merely serve as beneficiaries. Therefore, we continue to collaborate with government institutions, educational organizations, community groups, and various partners so that local potential can grow into lasting capacities and economic opportunities,” Yusri added.

Promoting Self-Reliance through Integrated Livestock Farming

Vale Indonesia received the ICA 2026 Platinum Award through its “Woliko” Integrated Native Chicken Farming Development Program, developed as part of the Company’s efforts to empower communities through integrated native chicken farming enterprises.

The Woliko Program strengthens community group capacities in livestock management while fostering interconnected economic activities. Assistance includes livestock management, feed and supporting-material development, and the utilization of livestock by-products to support agricultural activities. Through this approach, livestock farming is developed as a business ecosystem that creates economic opportunities, enhances community skills, and encourages more productive use of local resources.

Enhancing Local Workforce Competencies through Vocational Training

One of the ISDA 2026 Gold Awards was granted for the Vocational Short-term Training (VST) Program, which was developed to improve the skills and competitiveness of the local workforce. The program bridges human resource development needs with industry-required competencies through vocational training in fields relevant to current industrial developments. Its implementation involves collaboration between Vale Indonesia, the East Luwu Regency Government, and vocational education institutions.

Through VST, participants gain opportunities to enhance their technical skills and job readiness while expanding their prospects to participate in regional economic and industrial growth.

Cassava Village Program Strengthens Local Economic Value Creation

Vale Indonesia’s second ISDA 2026 Gold Award was earned through the Nuha Cassava Village Program, which focuses on developing local economic potential through cassava-based enterprises. The program encourages communities not only to sell cassava as a primary commodity but also to produce higher-value processed products. Support activities include strengthening production capacity, business development, administration, and group financial management.

As a result, local resources are transformed into productive economic ventures that broaden business opportunities while strengthening community-based economic institutions at the village level.

These three programs reflect Vale Indonesia’s approach to implementing its Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM), focusing on capacity building, strengthening local institutions, skills development, and optimizing regional potential to foster community self-reliance.

This year’s achievement continues Vale Indonesia’s successful track record at the ICA and ISDA awards. At ISDA 2024, the Company received two Gold Awards and three Silver Awards for various community and environmental empowerment initiatives. At ICA–ISDA 2025, Vale Indonesia once again earned Platinum and Gold Awards through the Matano Iniaku Program, as well as a Silver Award for the Closed-Loop Livestock System: Cattle Farming Program.

These accomplishments form part of Vale Indonesia’s ongoing commitment to improving the quality of its community empowerment programs and creating long-term value for communities surrounding its operational areas.
